Fifty Dresses: I said YES to the Dress!

I just love dresses. New dresses, second-hand dresses, vintage dresses, designer, highstreet, whatever. When I like a dress, I’m in…

How many dresses? 54!

How many dresses? 54!

But as someone working freelance from home, I do not wear them enough. And I often feel overdressed, as in the Netherlands, ‘glamour’ is something…. ummm…. not often found. Most people stick to sneakers, jeans (often distressed), T-shirts and sweaters, mostly in black, blue or grey. So I tend to stand out of the crowd anyway.

But recently, I decided to wear my dresses more often. I found my  vintage Kay Unger cocktail dress  in my cupboard when looking for another day dress. I bought at Neiman Marcus in Fort Lauderdale and only wore… once. So I put it on and we went out to dinner in a fancy restaurant. Where I was (of course)… overdressed. But anyway: I sparkled all night!

Yes, I also love shoes and handbags..

I started my own Fashion Project ‘Fifty Dresses’, as I have at least 50 dresses I want to wear… I have collected clothes since I was around 30. Before that, I dressed in jeans and black shirts, tight pants with wide belts when going out and high heels.

But that changed, when I had to go dress shopping for events. I bought a silk, handpainted skirt and top, and considered selling it on Ebay. And then I discovered, that I could by the same outfit for around 10 to 20% of the original price on auction sites… I started to visit high-end thrift stores and stores, so I definitely SAID YES TO THE DRESS!
