Fabulous Friday: Singing in the Rain!

The end of summer does not make me sad, it makes me happy. The leaves start to change colour, the days are soft and cooler, and I sleep better at night. The heat gives way to the cool. The sea water is still warm, and I do not have to water the garden that often anymore!

I am such a lucky person to live close to the beach, but I never go there when it’s hot and busy. At least not during daytime. I wait until the end of the day to go for a short swim of walk, when the crowds return home and the beach is quiet again.

The approach of autumn gives me a sense of renewal, focus, and appreciation. And I can dive into my wardobe to get out the clothes for cooler weather! It’s a bit like opening a treasure trove, I seem to find all new stuff, that I forgot I had. I feel like a kid in a candy store. I try to ignore the magazines with all their expensive must-haves: the new bag, boots, shoes, the new whatever. I will just wait for the sales or until I feel like buying a vintage item.

For now, it is still end of summer. I do not wear knits, sweaters or boots yet, just the in-between stuff, like this organza trenchcoat by Kaleidoscope. I have had it for a while, but the temperatures were just too high for any coat. And to me, this is the real end of summer dress: sheer, but I can layer it up a bit. I can wear this with a thicker dress when it is colder, or over a sleeveless dress as a ‘second dress’. I can even add a scarf, or boots. And it is a perfect colour match with my umbrella.

But I also know, that when winter comes, I will look forward to spring again!
